Setting a fixed IP address for the terminal
- PDF
To ensure the POS system can communicate with the terminal, it is necessary to set a fixed IP address for the terminal on the local network. This is because most Wi-Fi routers have dynamic IP address allocation (DHCP server) enabled by default, which can cause the IP address to change and require updating on the cash register. To prevent this situation, it is recommended to assign a static IP address to the terminal on your local network. This will ensure that the terminal's IP address remains constant.
You can assign a static IP address in two ways:
Configuring IP address at the network router level
In the network router settings, you can typically specify the IP address that a particular device should receive based on its physical MAC address.
To determine the physical MAC address of a terminal for a Wi-Fi wireless connection, follow these steps:
Click on the Settings icon (cogwheel),
Select the Phone Information tab (at the end of the menu).
Click on the Status tab, then click on the Wi-Fi MAC Address tab.
Enter this MAC address into your router's configuration.
Setting a fixed IP address directly in the terminal
This option may cause issues if the terminal is assigned the same IP address as another device on the network. To set a fixed IP address directly in the terminal, it is important to consider other parameters of your network to ensure correct configuration.
There are two ways to set a fixed IP address on the terminal, depending on how the terminal is connected to the Internet.
The terminal is connected via WI-FI
