Acceptance of Selected Payment Cards
- PDF
This function allows you to restrict the acceptance of selected payment card types where this is in accordance with card scheme rules. This allows the merchant, for example, to refuse certain types of payment cards with higher transaction fees.
The result is a significant reduction in fees for merchants where payers frequently use commercial payment cards.
Payment from the payer's perspective
While entering payment card details, the gateway automatically recognises the card type and displays a notification to the buyer that this card cannot be used.
The buyer can then choose a different payment card, e.g. a consumer payment card issued in the EU, or a different payment method.

Example of the gateway notification
Payment from the merchant's perspective
The merchant creates the payment as usual (via API or manually via a Payment link).
Apple Pay and Google Pay
For payments via Apple Pay and Google Pay, the payment gateway does not always have precise information about the specific type of card used. In such situations, the payment gateway will allow the card to be used.
If you require the restriction to always apply, you can disable Apple Pay and Google Pay payments. You can request this via our customer support, or set the enableApplePayGooglePay: true/false parameter in the API.
Merchant obligations
The merchant is obliged to clearly and visibly inform buyers about the restriction of selected card types on all sales channels where payment cards are accepted.
The merchant may only display the branding of payment cards that they actually accept. Card schemes do not allow the display of a general card scheme logo or card brands if all of its types are not accepted.
Service activation
This service is optional and must be requested during the contract conclusion process. Existing clients can contact our customer support.
