Internet Connection and Network Settings
- PDF
Comgate payment terminals require a stable internet connection to function correctly. Depending on the terminal model and your operating conditions, you can use the following connection methods:
Wi-Fi connection – ideal for stable wireless connectivity within your premises.
Mobile data (SIM) connection – suitable for mobile sales or as a backup solution.
Ethernet connection – provides the highest stability via cable (countertop terminals).
Network Configuration
Terminals can operate in the network in two modes:
Dynamic IP address (DHCP): The terminal receives an IP address automatically from your router (default setting).
Static IP address: Suitable for specific network configurations or fixed POS integration. Instructions for configuration can be found in the article Configuring a Static IP Address for the Terminal.
Terminals are typically placed behind NAT (IP masquerade).
Firewall Settings and Allowed Connections
For proper terminal communication, network access must be allowed to the addresses and ports listed below.
Important: The terminal initiates only outgoing connections (from your network to the internet). There is no need to allow incoming ports from the internet to the terminal on your firewall.
1. Production Environment
This configuration applies to all commonly used terminals in live operation.
Purpose | Protocol | IP Address | Port |
|---|---|---|---|
Payment transaction processing | |||
Remote management & configuration | |||
Application updates & management | |||
Terminal initialization | TCP | 193.33.23.55 | 9090 |
2. Test Environment
For developers and test terminals.
Purpose | Protocol | IP Address | Port |
|---|---|---|---|
Payment transaction processing | |||
Remote management & configuration | |||
Application updates & management | |||
Terminal initialization | TCP | 193.33.23.117 | 9090 |
Integration with POS System
If your terminal is integrated with a POS system, communication depends on your POS setup:
Local connection (LAN)
When both the POS and terminal are connected to the same router, the following communication must be allowed:
Direction: from POS IP address → terminal IP address
Protocol: TCP
Port: 33350
Cloud Connection (CloudPOS)
If you use a cloud-based POS solution, the terminal establishes outgoing connections via WebSocket Secure (WSS) and HTTPS. In this case, your firewall must allow outgoing traffic to the following addresses:
Environment | Protocol | URL | Port |
|---|---|---|---|
Production | WSS, HTTPS | cloudpos.switchio.com | 443 |
Test | WSS, HTTPS | acc-cloudpos.switchio.com | 443 |
Note: All IP addresses listed above may change in the future without prior notice. To ensure a reliable setup, you may allow the entire IP range 193.33.23.0/24.
